Starting a blog is a little like writing a term paper. I have spent more hours looking at the blank page, than I have typing on it. I have awakened in the middle of the night, thinking about what to say but of course like all things that wake us up in the night, ideas are quickly forgotten by morning.
I downloaded an app for my iPad that is making this a lot more fun (Hanx Writer). It is an app that makes a typewriter sound and makes it appear that the paper is in an old typewriter. It kind of makes me laugh that this would appeal to me, especially since I spent the better half of my freshman year in college bribing friends to do my typing for me. I have come a long way Rhonda (my friend that would type for Mountain Dew)!
Lest there be any questions about the title of this website and my intent, I thought long and hard about the title and my goals for this site. I wrote down two pages of ideas for a website title, I spent many sleepless hours (usually between the hours of 3 and 5 A.M.), and I tried to analyze all the words and ideas I came up with. What it comes down to is this. I value creativity. I know the difference between art and craft (more on that later), but I always strive to make whatever I do better and more creative than the last time I did it. I want to encourage others to do better and to use their gifts.
Now for my disclaimer. I am not a writer. I am a maker of things. Describing those “things” is hard for me. I have a lot of ideas to share, a lot of input, but I can’t always find the words to use. Lets hope it gets easier. In the meantime, please be patient with me.
